Being poor is said to be part of life. Its like a stage which you go through before becoming rich. That’s not the case for most people but to some it is. Most Kenyan musicians are living it large but a few of them are said to be struggling to make ends meet. Here are 3 Kenyan musicians who at some point were rich but are living in what people are now  calling poverty:

Bobby Mapesa

Bobby Mapesa is an hip hop recording artist, entertainer and businessman.  He was once one of the most sought out Kenyan rapper despite his vulgar lyrics. But the alcoholic rapper has gone down the drain with no hit song to prove his lyrical prowess. He is rumoured to live in Huruma near Mathare slums under huge financial crisis


The name Jimwat is coined from his names, James Wathigo. He was brought up in Kabete and went to Musa Gitau Primary School and Kikuyu day secondary School.In 2009, He was involved in a UN peace campaign where he collaborated in a peace song with artists Jua Cali, Mejja, among other top artists in Kenya. He also worked on an anti-corruption song but these hasn’t stopped rumors that he is living in poverty.


G-Kon is a  rap/hiphop Artiste, Song writter,Hiipuka Founder.His real is George Kevin Odoyo. The musician came with a bang but recently he has released any hit song which has his fans guessing if he living in poverty. As usual people are talking. It is said that he has money problems which has locked him out of the  musical limelight .
