Most people who are the audience think that a number of musicians in the country didn’t go to school.That’s not the case in some instances because some of them have actually gone to school and have achieved it all. Here is a look at the female musician who not only have talent but also beauty and brains

1. Wahu – Mathematician

Rosemary Wahu Kagwi, professionally known by her mononym Wahu, is a Kenyan singer-songwriter, former fashion model, actress and entrepreneur. She released her first single “Niangalie” which received positive reception all over Africa and the world at large. She is the inaugural recipient of the MTV Africa Music Awards 2008, for Best Female Artist category. Moreover, she has won the Pearl of Africa Music Awards, Chaguo La Teeniez Awards and Kisima Music Awards.In the acting industry, Wahu had a leading role in the television series Tazama.

Wahu is a former model and University of Nairobi student, graduating in mathematics. She started her musical career in 2000. Her first three singles were “Niangalie”, “Esha” and “Liar”. Wahu released her first major hit, “Sitishiki” around 2005. some of her music has been produced by the Ogopa DJ’s. Wahu has entertained audiences alongside many Kenyan and African Artistes like Kleptomaniacs, Fally Ipupa, Nonini, Nameless  and Wyre.

2. Wangeci –  Financial economist

Wangechi Waweru  professionally known as Wangechi, is a Kenyan based rapper, singer and songwriter. She began her music career in 2013 and released her debut mixtape “Consume- Chakula ya soul” in July 2013. In December 2, 2016 she released her 10 track EP “Dont Consume if Seal is Broken” Which included Tusker’s theme song for the Here’s to us Campaign launched in 30 November 2016

Wangechi rose to great popularity through her feature on the Ligi Soo remix in 2013 that featured a variety of female rappers. This gave her a platform to create a name and release various projects after

3. Dela – Architecture

You may know her as Dela but her real name is Adeline Maranga. She is a sweet singing sensation in the country following the release of her single ‘Mafeelings’ that was a trending topic on twitter after its release in 2016. Dela, was a student at the University of Nairobi. She opened up to Citizen Digital and begun by complimenting Kenyan men for having manners.

4. Sanaipei – Pharmacist

Natasha Sanaipei Tande (born 22 March 1985),professionally known as Sana, is a Kenyan singer, songwriter, karaoke host, radio personality and entertainer. Sana was born  and raised in Mombasa and later on in Ngong. She gained prominence as one of the top female musicians after winning the 2004 East Africa Coca Cola Popstars Talent Search together with two other bandmates. Thereafter she had a short stint at Capital FM. In 2007 she joined Kiss 100 and thereafter Easy FM in 2013 (now known as Nation FM), where her daily mid-morning show garnered the station’s highest listenership
