Akothee apparently comes from a family of politicians in Migori county. Check out which positions her mother holds.

Kenya’s richest female musician, Akothee, won the 2016 African Music Magazine Awards’ best female artiste in East Africa and the African Entertainment Awards USA 2016’s best female artiste’s awards .

She was welcomed back to Kenya with pomp and color by family, friends and fans. A lot of money was spent on having a good time to celebrate the awards. The initial figure spent was about KSh 300,000.

Her family was there to welcome her at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Among them were her parents, Monica Yunita and Joshua Owino K’Okeyo.

According to the Star, Akothee comes from a family of politicians. Her parents were both employees in the government before her mother decided to become a politician.

Honorable Monica Yunita K’Okeyo is the sitting Member of County Assembly for Migori as well as the Deputy Majority Leader.

She intends to defend her seat in the upcoming election in 2017.

There are other politicians in Migori bearing her family name but it cannot be confirmed at this moment if they are related to Akothee.

“You can mess up as a teenager but you still have a chance to put a smile on your parents faces & they always have a room to believe in you again, hakuna kama mzazi, do good things in darkness it will be seen on a broad daylight light it’s never too late to make a step of change,” posted Akothee on her social media accounts.

It seems sheer hard work and calculated moves got her in through the right doors, because after hosting her family and friends to lunch at a popular restaurant, she hosted another cocktail party at Sankara.

It was reported it cost her an extra KSh 2.5 million shillings.
