A top vernacular singer from Homa Bay county has fled to Tanzania for fear of being attacked after producing a song in praise of President Uhuru Kenyatta and attacking NASA leader Raila Odinga.
However, Benga singer Tom Mboya Ang’ang’a’s, popularly known as Atomy Sifa, efforts to maximise profits as they come have put him in dire trouble with members of the Luo community.
As we speak, Sifa has sought refuge in Tanzania after he feared for his life over a song he released in praise of Uhuru and attacking Raila.
In the song, Atomy Sifa urges members of the Luo community to support Uhuru’s re-election bid, at the same time saying Raila, who hails from Siaya county, should be rejected by all means possible as he is the reason Luos are poor.
Sifa says Raila never did anything for the community when he was prime minister in the grand coalition government.
However, this blatant attack on the NASA leader who is seeking to unseat Uhuru in the August 8 polls have not gone down well with the members of the community who have threatened to attack him.
Contacted by Nation, Atomy denied that he created the song instead choosing to blame another artiste, Tede ja Kenya, with whom he has sang.
Jubilee representatives in Luo Nyanza are now calling for police to provide security to the artiste who fears for his life for expressing his opinions.
