In an exclusive interview with New York Post, Malik revealed that he will be voting for republican candidate Donald Trump, despite being a Democrat for many years.
“I like Donald Trump because he speaks from the heart,” Malik Obama told The Post from his home in the rural village of Kogelo. “Make America Great Again is a great slogan. I would like to meet him.”
Malik said his “deep disappointment” in his brother Barack’s administration has led him to recently switch allegiance to “the party of Lincoln.”
Among the reasons Malik does not want to see a Clinton presidency is the murder of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, whom he refers to as one of his ‘best friends’.
He also castigated her for using her personal email servers while she was Secretary of State, and the subsequent recommendation by the FBI not to prosecute her.
Another reason Malik now identifies as Republican is the Democratic Party’s support for same-sex marriage.
“I feel like a Republican now because they don’t stand for same-sex marriage, and that appeals to me,” he said.
Malik Obama will return to the US in November to vote. He used to live in Maryland, where he worked for many years as an accountant and is registered to vote there.
Upon learning of Malik Obama’s endorsement, Donald Trump took to twitter with the post below.
