Top Kenyan singer Avril now says she has come of age and does not let small issues bother her anymore.
“I used to care so much about what people thought and said about me but I never get bothered anymore. I have no more stress,” she told MondayBlues. The adorable singer who is also the Oriflame ambassador showcased a different side of herself as she performed with a band during the launch of her new project, No Stress, on Saturday night.
A gorgeous looking Avril showed sheer talent as she energetically took the stage at Skyluxx Lounge during the concert attended by many music industry giants.
Among those in attendance were dancehall singer Redsan, AY from Tanzania, Fundi Frank, Willy Tuva and Rabbit.
The new song she was launching, No Stress, features Tanzania’s finest rapper AY. It was the first performance in a series in her ‘meet-the-fans’ tour that will see her visit a number of countries.
It was a forty-minute performance, one of the longest concerts the singer has hosted in a long time and the first clear indication that Avril is truly back in the limelight after a short hiatus.
It was also the first major performance since she left Ogopa Deejays almost a year ago, a move she says has helped her re-discover herself.
“It has been a different experience working with Kaka Empire and my new management team that has helped to re-brand me. I am more mature and that is reflecting in my music,” Avril told MondayBlues.
“Sometimes fans can put pressure on you to release a song but by the end of the day, it is your career that you want to protect and a legacy you want to build,” she added.
