Miss World Kenya, Evelyn Thungu Njambi, finished fifth in the Miss World Finals 2016 while Ghana’s Antoninetter Delali finished 15, making them the only African contestants in the top 20 of the competition.
19-year-old Stephanie del Valle of Puerto Rico was crowned the winner on Sunday, December 18, edging out runners up from the Dominican Republic and Indonesia.
Evelyn Njambi, who was crowned Miss World Kenya after the title was stripped off Roshanara Ebrahim due to ‘personal reasons’ and ‘gross misconduct’ after eight months with the tiara.
Ms Njambi, the 23-year-old interior design student from Maseno University represented Kenya at the Miss World Finals, is only the second lady in the history of Miss World Kenya that a queen has been forced to step down.
The 66th Edition of the Miss World Finals saw only Kenya finish among the top 10 as the only African country beating contestants from China, USA, Korea, Brazil and France.
