Nation Media Group has closed down its radio businesses and one television station. The media giant shut down Kenya’s Nation FM and QFM, and KFM based in Rwanda.

The media station also announced that it will be closing down QTV and instead concentrate on its TV station NTV.

“We wish to announce the rationalization of our broadcasting division. This will entail consolidating our two television stations into one strong multi-lingual television station under NTV,” NMG said in a statement.

The media group acknowledged that the shut-down will have a financial effect on a number of its employees, but promised to abide by the law in relieving them off their duties.

“The exercise will be carried out with due respect to our employees and within the Kenyan laws. We will strive to provide all the necessary support to help them manage through the transition,” said the report.
