Nigerian actor Yomi Fabiyi has said he wants to leave his wife of four years because he is “no longer happy in the marriage”.
The actor took to his official social media pages on Friday to reveal that he wants to end his marriage to his British wife only identified as Fran.
“Hopefully Fran accepts my proposition to end this marriage now as I cannot continue this way! I am not happy anymore as we edge close to the 4-year anniversary,” said Fabiyi.
The actor says his efforts to urge his UK-based wife to come live with him in Nigeria have born no fruits, leading to his frustrations.
Expressing that he is currently willing to relocate to the US, the actor says that his wife is now unwilling to help him process his UK visa.
“Fran is such a beautiful woman, supportive and wish I come live in England (with her), take up employment and study…I have used her documents to renew my normal visa only, so no question: she is not willing (to let me live with her). I had made it clear before that I was not prepared to live abroad as my career was just taking shape (in Nigeria) then,” he wrote.
Fabiyi says he’s had to live with a gold-digger stereotype because of the interracial nature of his marriage: “I have to live with that (being called a gold-digger) but sometimes it can be so bruising.”
Fabiyi has vowed to remain focused on his career despite the turbulence in his marriage.
“I am focused on my career and keeping my fans and admirers entertained. I have an absolute right to do whatever makes me happy provided it is nothing criminal, illegal, immoral or anti-social. I hope I find true love again while I push for a divorce as soon as possible. I will be fine, guys. Thank you,” he signed off.
The actor is currently in the UK to initiate the divorce process.
