She landed in a chopper to her mega graduation party and to her surprise, a star-studded ceremony at her father’s estate in Machakos County. And so, the show started. Agnes Saumu, the daughter of Nairobi Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko, who graduated from the Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), Karen Campus on Thursday, has been the talk of town ever since.

There were six choppers fighting for a landing space at the magnificent Mua Hills residence where over 300 distinguished guests were hosted to a lavish dinner party. The helipad that can hold six choppers at a time happened to be the deejay stage and guests who flew into the venue were forced to look for alternative places.

Throughout the night and into the next day, Sonko’s private chopper never left the venue.Eric-Omondi_Easy-Resize.com_

However, even with great performances by top African music acts, the show was stolen by Saumu’s boyfriend and other politicians who showered the former student leader with cash to celebrate her graduation.

Standing up to be counted, Saumu’s boyfriend, an aspiring politician gifted her with Sh250,000 with Bryan Mutembei and Paul Kobia awarding her each a similar amount. The cash gifts amounted to something slightly above Sh2 million and the joke was that… that was just loose cash from the guests. It was a 24-hour party that featured the who-is-who in the local political and showbiz scene.

The artistes who performed included Ali Kiba, Sauti Sol, Ken Wamaria, Mike Rua, Mercy Masika, Esther Wahome, Ringtone, Size 8, Jeremiah Thiogo, Jaguar, Christina Shusho, Kathekani and Lady Maureen.

At some point, the free flowing drinks seemed to get the better of some of the speakers some of who took the mike and made it known they would rally fans behind Sonko in his bid to become Nairobi ‘Senator’ in 2017 even when he has made it clear that he will be vying for the governor’s slot.

DJ Crème’s equipment blew off as he prepared to take the stage and he was forced to get help from fellow showbiz acts DJ Mo and Israel.
