The mass retrenchment at Citizen TV came as a surprise especially to many who didn’t expect the hatchet to fall on Terryanne Chebet, a top business news anchor. She was part of a horde of top people at the Royal Media Services-owned station that were shown the door in order to cut costs.
Former Citizen TV anchor Terryanne Chebet is still a busy woman despite being retrenched a few days ago from RMS.
It seems the reporter who earned a lot of money at Citizen TV has embarked on full-time management of her companies, Keyara Organics and Scarlet Digital.
Keyara is a skin care company while Scarlet is a branding and social media agency.
The TV queen has since broken her silence over her firing from Kenya’s biggest Television network.
Sources indicate that Chebet was axed from Citizen because of her high salary yet she mostly anchored news and only did minimal reporting.
RMS said that the restructuring process aimed at reducing the running cost of the media house.
For the first time after news broke, Chebet addressed her firing saying:
“Good morning friends. It’s been a tough week but I’d like to thank everyone who has called, texted and sent me encouraging inbox messages. Thank you and may God bless you as you have blessed me. That door is now closed but I’m looking forward to better things ahead..” Chebet wrote on Facebook.
